We have never done so many diverse and interesting things in a single day – from the delightful estuary cruise (up close and personal with the dolphins!), through the innovative Arid Lands Botanic Gardens – a great concept – to Wilpena Pound and an unforgettable flight over the Wilpena area – the Flinders, as we have never before seen it! We loved the tastes of the local food and the attention to detail. We thought it was a great concept to have a day organised so efficiently to do so much at such a reasonable cost – very good value! Itinerary

06:45-07:35 Depart Adelaide Airport

With Sharp Airlines your flight will follow virtually the same route taken by famed explorer Edward John Eyre in 1839 & that of ancient indigenous trade routes. As you near Port Augusta the land transforms. The Flinders Ranges to the right rise up from the farm land flats & the flat plateau’s of the Baxter ranges to the left are in stark contrast yet consist of the same rock sediments that form the Flinders Ranges. As both of the mountain ranges head north they squeeze the Spencer Gulf into a narrow waterway that will be the first leg of your memorable journey.

7:45 Transfer from Port Augusta Airport

To cruise departure point.

8:00-10:00 Top End Eco Cruise

You will cruise to the head of Spencer Gulf among an unparalleled setting of stunning red cliffs, mangroves red outback Sand hills with the Flinders Ranges as your back drop. All the while looking out for the resident dolphin pod.

10:30-12:30 Travel to Wilpena Pound

Your exploration continues now by land as we mirror the historic original Ghan Train line through the historic towns of Quorn & Hawker. With the peaks of Wilpena Pound now visible we head to our first photo stop to admire this majestic landscape of the Elder Range, Chace Range & Wilpena Pound.

13:00-13:30 Scenic Flight

To truly appreciate the crater like form of Wilpena Pound you now take to the air for a 30 minute flight around Wilpena Pound plus the nearby Brachina & Bunyeroo Gorges. Your expert pilot also provides an informative commentary of the majestic landscape below.

13:30-14:00 Lunch

Picnic lunch of local produce at the base of Wilpena Pound.

14:00-17:00 Various Points of Interest & Travel to Port Augusta.

We now head to another stunning look out where you can’t help but to reflect on your memorable flight with a greater understanding of one of Australia’s most stunning landscapes. With time permitting we have options on the return trip to visit various points of interest including scenic look outs, Geoff Morgan’s Gallery & historic ruins all the while looking out for Kangaroo’s plus Emu’s.
