inspiring views down onto the open outback plains, including the 'Skyline Timeline'. Then along the
Heysen Trail & into Depot Creek, one of the most historicaly significant spots in the whole Flinders
Ranges.

The first European exploration into South Australia’s Flinders Ranges & Outback was by
Edward John Eyre in 1839. This first expedition of Edward john Eyre’s into the Flinders Ranges & Outback
is arguably the most historic yet little known of exploration into the Flinders Ranges & Outback. On this
historic first expedition he discovered 'Depot Creek'. Depot Creek was to have a major strategic role in the
early exploration of the Flinders Ranges & Outback. Other prominent explores such as John Horrors, Ernest Giles, Benjamin Babbage & John
McDouall Stuart made camp here at various times used this spot. Depot Creek also supplied water to Port
Augusta & the railways. See Old

Depot Creek is situated 40km North of Port Augusta on the 500km square outback sheep
station 'Wilkatana'. This tour includes all the aspects
that the Flinders Ranges & Outback is famous for. Aboriginal, European, Geologic, Wildlife
& Pastoral aspects are covered in this tour, coupled with awe inspiring
scenery.

Then its on rarely used red sandy Outback tracks to the ancient Top of the
Gulf.

This was originally connected to Lake Torrens & was also for a time the Head of Spencer
Gulf. This spot also puts in perspective as you view the extent of the tour with the Flinders Ranges in the
background.
It's then back into Port Augusta via the Depot Creek road. A little known fact is that this is
South Australia's first & original Outback track. Used well before the Oodnadata, Strezlecki &
Birdsville tracks were even set foot upon.
