These are all recent 2010 pictures taken from our cruises.
'Lady Di' breaching.
As yet it is not exactly known why the whales make their way to the head of Spencer Gulf, but each
year when they do it is spectacular.
On 28 June 2010 after the Humpbacks came up a Southern Right Whale has also made an appearance.
This whale has since spent the last week up here lazing about then breaching. We have affectionately nick named the
whale 'Lady Di'
On 23 June 2010 the first Humpback Whales appeared for a majestic sight. The Blanche Harbour shacks are in the
back ground, the hills are apart of the Baxter Ranges.
The below pictures were taken by Georgie Sharp
More of Georgie's pictures can be viewed at the below link, its worth a look.
At all times we abide by the South Australian whale interaction guidelines of 300m front &
rear. 100m of the side. Or if whale in distress its 300m all around. The whales will also come over nearer to us on
occasions, on many occasions after sitting quietly the whales would approach & I would have to slowly
reverse the boat away (this happened with the Discover crew). All pictures are taken with telephoto lenses.
